Philadelphia Seventy-Sixers

One of the oldest franchises in NBA history, the Philadelphia 76ers – also known simply as the Sixers – are a legendary basketball club who have had some of the sport’s most prominent players as members of the team. Iconic names include Charles Barkley, Allen Iverson, Julius Irving, and Wilt Chamberlain, among many others. With a long history in a city known for prominent sports teams, Sixers games remain a popular charter bus outing for Philly residents and visitors alike.

The team was originally founded as the Syracuse Nationals in 1946, and were among the seven teams in the National Basketball League absorbed by the Basketball Association of America to form the NBA. After a difficult playoff loss in 1963, funding for the Syracuse Nationals was pulled, and the team moved to Philadelphia. After adopting new owners and a new name, the team settled down in Philly, replacing the Warriors – who had moved to San Francisco a year prior.

The name and image stuck, drawing upon Philadelphia’s important role in the foundation of the country and evoking the year of American independence, 1776. As the NBA grew, the Sixers became a staple of the sport. The team has gone through many ups and downs in the 50 years since moving to Philadelphia, with a string of well-known, elite players taking leadership roles and helping bring the 76ers to prominence during different “eras” of the team’s history.

Today, the team plays in Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center, a massive indoor complex that also houses the Philadelphia Flyers NHL team, the Philadelphia Soul arena football team, and hosts a wide range of concerts, athletic contests, and other “arena” style events. In addition to regular seating, guests can enjoy enjoy premium options such as Luxury Suites and Club Box Seats for a “VIP” experience. The arena’s basketball games seat 20,328 people, with additional standing room in the luxury areas. There are 126 luxury suites and 1,880 club-box seats as well.

Both the main concourse and mezzanine levels of the stadium are full of options for food and drink, including pubs, clubs, and restaurants offering a variety of dishes for your entire charter bus group to enjoy – including, of course, authentic Philly cheesesteaks.

Group tickets are available for all home games, and can be reserved well in advance – before the public even has access. Group ticket packages allow fans to select their preferred opponent and seating location, as well as choose from many of the “theme nights” that happen throughout the season. Additional “fan experience packages” are also available, allowing you and your charter bus group to get even more out of your Sixers game experience. Choir groups can sign up to sing the national anthem at a game, groups can sign up to play a game on the Sixers court before a game, be part of a “high-five tunnel,” attend the pre-game shoot around, and much more.

Sports games are great fun, and even more so when you can attend with a large group of friends, family, colleagues, or peers. Attending a Philadelphia 76ers game is even easier when your group travels by charter bus! Renting a motorcoach for your group means direct access to the stadium without worrying about traffic, parking or traveling in multiple vehicles. If you’re doing a package or “experience,” it also ensures that everyone arrives on time! Sixers games are an excellent outing for young teams, church groups, employee parties, or any other group of basketball fans. Start planning your Sixers charter bus experience right away!
